The Health gauge of Risk of Rain 2 is displayed in the bottom-left corner of the screen on the HUD. Taking Damage reduces your health. Lost health regenerates over time.

Regaining Health[edit | edit source]

All Survivors and some Monsters regenerate health passively. The amount per second is determined by the character's base Health Regeneration, character level, and certain Items such as Cautious Slug.pngCautious SlugBgCommon.pngCautious Slug.pngRapidly heal outside of danger.
Increases base health regeneration by +3 hp/s (+3 hp/s per stack) while outside of combat.

Shield[edit | edit source]

Shield works similarly to Health. As characters suffer from damage, shield is emptied prior to health. Shield replenishes over 2 seconds after 7 seconds without taking damage. As a result characters must avoid damage for 9 consecutive seconds to fully regenerate their shield. Shield regeneration is treated as separate from healing and thus any modifiers to healing, or effects that activate from healing, will not take effect from regenerating shield.

Killing an enemy spawns a healing orb that heals for 8 plus an additional 2% (+2% per stack) of maximum health.

When the Tonic wears off, you have a 20% chance to gain a Tonic Affliction, reducing all of your stats by -5% (-5% per stack).

Applied temporary barrier.

Barrier is displayed over the health gauge, but it degrades rapidly over time, at a rate of 3.33% of your max health per second.

  • Total HP and total shields can be doubled with 100% barrier.
  • Barrier can be used to circumvent the negative effect of Shaped Glass.pngShaped GlassBgLunar.pngShaped Glass.pngDouble your damage... BUT halve your health.
    Increase base damage by 100% (+100% per stack). Reduce maximum health by 50% (+50% per stack).

Death[edit | edit source]

Upon death, this item will be consumed and you will return to life with 3 seconds of invulnerability.
